What we collect
When you visit backpackingreviews.com we record standard server logs (IP address, browser user-agent, referring URL, time of request). When you subscribe or contact us, we store the email address you give us and whatever you typed.
We use cookies for (1) measuring aggregate traffic and (2) keeping you signed in if you become a subscriber. We do not run third-party advertising trackers beyond the programmatic ad network's required cookies.
What we don't collect
We do not buy reader data from data brokers, we do not enrich your email against external profile databases, and we do not sell or rent reader data to anyone.
Who we share it with
- Our hosting and analytics providers, only what they need to keep the site running.
- Our email-sending vendor (if you subscribe), only the address and the message we are sending.
- Our ad network, only the bid signals the ad slot requires.
- Law-enforcement when properly compelled. We will tell you when we are legally allowed to.
Your choices
You can request a copy of the information we hold on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us through /contact and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in a jurisdiction (EU, UK, California, etc.) that grants additional statutory rights, we will honor them.
AI and automated processing
Our editorial system uses AI to research and draft articles. Reader-facing personal data (your email, your form submissions) is never fed into the editorial AI pipeline. The boundary is enforced at the data-store level — subscriber records and editorial corpora live in separate databases with no shared service account.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change. Material changes will be announced on the site at least 14 days before they take effect.
